Recent Report Shows that internet usage grew 46% in 2009.  That is HUGE grow considering the massive numbers of people that are being referenced here.

It has been estimated that that over a half BILLION local searches are done each month on google which is about 60-70% of the search market.  That would mean that almost a Billion searches are done each month online.

How many are for your service in your area?

There are tools to check the answer to that question but rather than analysis paralysis I would suggest that you get started NOW!

What is the minimum you should do?

  • Have a good conversion optimized website
  • Get your site to rank 1 or 2 for your main keywords
  • Get ALL the possible local listings – Yelp, Google, Yahoo and Bing to start
  • Get some PPC Ads going

That is the minimum to get you started.

Of course I suggest hiring a professional that you can trust.

There is so much that a good marketing funnel and follow up system of stacked marketing can do.

Don’t be cheap and trip over a dollar to pick up or save a dime.

As a small business seo has been something that has been low on the priority list of things to do.

A lot of people are thinking that google local map is google local seo.

But the truth is you want to show up multiple times on the front page of any search engine multiple times for the keywords related to your business.

First you go for the low hanging fruit keyword.

Then you go for the next best and so on.

Many companies pay per click and have great budgets but neglect to spend on seo to be able to get that organic traffic for free for years to come.

I would guess that is part of the instant gratification society we live in.

But mostly due to ingnorance.

What does your seo budget look like?

Orange Country Register Reports on Social Media

I was getting my coffee this morning at starbucks and saw the OC register which had a story about local businesses are now using social media instead of old school public relations. It when on to talk about those old firms have had to switch to social media themselves to stay afloat.

But is it smart to use an old school company gone new school or should these local business find experts in these new forms of media…

Choose your friends wisely…
